Weird. It's most likely a package issue. What OS are you on (I am using OSX)? Did you use the environment.yml file to create the environment? I would try to use the package versions from the environment.yml or update the essential packages to the most up-to-date versions. If you are still having issues, please submit an issue report to hvplot (https://github.com/holoviz/hvplot/issues) with your code and your environment.
